English

Introduction
The area under rice cultivation in Iran is about 700,000 hectares. The outer husk of paddy  is the main waste of rice mills and about 20% of the dry weight of this waste material is silica. The silica in this waste can be extracted and returned to the rice fields as a fertilizer. The necessity of conducting this research is related to the insufficient amount of silicon in the soil of some rice fields, the role of silicon in increasing the resilience of plants to environmental stresses, and the goal of this research is to investigate the possibility of producing nanosilica from the outer husk of rice, estimate its capacity, and return it to the rice field soil, as well as to eliminate the environmental problem resulting from the deposition of this waste in the rice mills in  north of the country. Producing nano-silica from this organic waste and returning it to the rice fields is a demand-driven, innovative, and technological idea in line with sustainable agriculture and in the interest of the environment. Due to the high cost of imported silicon fertilizer and the cheap and available outer husk of rice, as well as the numerous uses of silica in industry, medicine, pharmacy, and agriculture especially in rice fields, the production of granulated nanoorganosilica from this organic waste with an economic and environmental approach is one of the goals of this applied research.
 Materials and methods
This research was conducted in 1400 at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in University of Guilan. First, the outer husk of paddy was obtained as waste from paddy factory in Jirdeh village in Shaft city of Gilan province and after adding normal hydrochloric acid (HCl) to it and heating it gently in a sand bath, heating continued in an electric furnace at 700 degrees Celsius until only amorphous nanosilica remained. Semicrystalline nanosilica was obtained from the interaction of the remaining amorphous nanosilica with potassium nitrate. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analyses were used to identify and confirm the nanostructure of amorphous silica and semicrystalline silica particles. In addition, the capacity to retain the outer husk of paddy in active paddy mills was estimated randomly by survey method using a questionnaire.
Results and Discussion
Based on the results of this study, the successful synthesis of nano-silica particles from rice paddy husk was confirmed using the applied characterization techniques. The findings further demonstrated that approximately 100 g of nano-organosilica could be produced from every 1,000 g of dry rice paddy husk, corresponding to a conversion efficiency of about 10%. Considering that rice is cultivated on approximately 700,000 ha of paddy fields nationwide, the annual production potential of nano-organosilica from rice husk is estimated to be approximately 84,000 tons. These results highlight the considerable potential of rice husk, an abundant agricultural by-product, as a sustainable and value-added source for the large-scale production of nano-organosilica.
Conclusion
In line with sustainable agriculture, by extracting silica from rice mill waste, the silica deficit of those rice fields in the country whose soil silicon is insufficient can be met. Therefore, this technology should be created alongside the system for converting paddy to white rice in rice mills as a side production line, and the silica produced should be made available to rice farmers in the same area to add to the soil of their rice fields
